6 Bedroom House in Bar Harbor
Pet friendly, lots of space and charm, and a great location. Quiet residential street near the center of town. Only a 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. Open plan first floor, kitchen with brand new appliances, 65-inch 4K TV (includes subscriptions to Netflix, Max, Disney, Hulu, and Amazon Prime), comfy beds, lots of kid stuff. Plenty of space for friends or families sharing. Two completely new bathrooms and two older ones. Driveway holds three vehicles (Bar Harbor charges for on-street parking).
This is a 100 year-old house that is in the process of being lovingly restored and updated by Charles, my husband, who has a background in construction. It combines old-world charm with modern amenities such as separate heating and a/c for each bedroom and living area, brand-new appliances, and a Sonos sound system.
The spacious backyard has an Extra Large Big Green Egg grill, large dining table, 66 quart outdoor propane lobster pot and two hammocks for relaxing.
Our unique home offers six bedrooms with plenty of space for extended families, two families sharing or a friends’ retreat. Three of the bedrooms have king beds. We've got many things you need for kids, including a white noise machine, sand toys, board games, etc.
We want you to feel like you're staying at a friend's house, not just a vacation rental, so we supply a lot of extra amenities and many small touches, like more towels than you'll ever need. Our unique layout is great for two/extended families sharing, or a friends’ retreat.
Cook big meals in our fully equipped kitchen remodeled in 2021 with all new appliances, including two dishwashers and a double oven. Plenty of dishes, loads of cookware and even big serving platters are provided. There is a separate coffee bar and small drinks fridge in the library that is adjacent to the kitchen. Eat inside or out in our backyard; both tables can seat a big group. Help yourself to anything in the cupboards, which we keep stocked with spices, oils, vinegar, condiments, etc. for cooking great meals. The large kitchen and dining tables mean lots of space to hang out and cook, eat, or just drink wine together.
We provide beach toys and towels. Help yourself to books or board and card games.
I grew up on the island so I can give you insights on the best places to eat, buy local seafood and even where to find the local farmer's markets.
We love the island and would like to provide a great experience for all our guests. We know that selecting a place to stay isn't just about money, but a valuable time to make memories with family and friends. We will make every effort to assure you have an extraordinary experience. We manage our home ourselves and it is our only rental on the island. We would love to have guests who return year-after-year and who become part of our Song of the Sea Family. Q. How close are you to town and to Acadia National Park?
Located on Bar Harbor's historic Ledgelawn Avenue, we are steps from all the attractions of downtown and a few minutes from Acadia National Park. Stroll to the village green, fine restaurants and quaint specialty shops, the Abbe Museum, Shore Path, free Island Explorer bus, tennis courts, skateboard park, playground, and Sunday farmer's market (open during the summer months). Two park entrances are a few minutes' drive away. The famed Kebo Valley Golf Course is less than a mile away.
Q. Are you kid-friendly?
You bet! We have three of our own and have kids’ toys, books, and board games in our house. We also have a high chair, pack n' play, bed rail and Born potty seat.
Q. Are you pet friendly?
A. Yes, we have a medium size lab/hound mix that we love. We can accommodate one dog per guest party, and guests must tell us about their dog in advance. We regret that we cannot accommodate cats as Charles is highly allergic to them. We do not charge a pet fee, but instead ask guests to leave a cash tip for our awesome cleaner.
Q. What is the bedroom situation like?
The house has six bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own separately controlled heating and a/c unit. The setup is great for two families or multiple generations sharing.
Here's how they break down:
- Captain’s Quarters (king bed), located on the first floor just off the kitchen. There is a brand new bathroom with a walk-in shower located right next to it.
- Forest Bedroom - Green (king bed), located on the second floor, 50” Samson 4K TV, black out shades
- Garden Bedroom - Yellow (king bed), located on the second floor, black out shades
- Peach Bedroom (queen bed), located on the second floor, black out shades
- Chart Bedroom - Blue (queen bed), located on the second floor, black out shades
There are two bathrooms on the second floor, one completely new and one not-yet-updated. Both have showers.
- Crow’s Nest (2 queen and 2 full beds), located on the third floor. Ideal for kids. 50” Samson 4K TV.
There is a large bathroom on the third floor with a tub and a shower.
Q. How do we get keys?
A. There is a coded box next to the front door that contains the key. Spare keys are available. Arrive at any time after check-in using a secure code. Check-in is completely contact free.
Q. Is there a dedicated work area?
A. Yes. There is a desk and a printer in a small room on the third floor opposite the Crow's Nest.
Q. Do you allow events?
A. We only allow parties that are essentially family gatherings. We would be ok with families hosting small wedding brunches or dinners as we are set up to serve a large group of diners.
Q. Do you have a minimum age rental?
A. Yes. Due to the special nature of our home, we restrict rentals to guests 25 years and older. The individual renting the home must be on-site with the group.
Q. Do you have a minimum night stay?
