It is possible to spot a myriad of birdlife, wallabies, echidnas, wombats, and glowworms if you sit quietly and know where to look.
In the pastures, we breed Scottish Highlander cattle renowned for their long shaggy coats while in the gardens we provide fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and eggs from our friendly chickens.
Formerly an old school house, Platypus Bend has been extensively renovated and enlarged to feature four bedrooms and three bathrooms comfortably and luxuriously sleeping at least eight adult guests.
Quality appliances, including two ovens and an induction stove top plus a well equipped kitchen are perfect for self-catering in style.
Luscious linen, bath towels and beach / creek towels are provided and cooking basics are supplied.
In the lounge, there is a state of the art projector screen for TV, movies or games and, throughout the house, a multi-zone music system can be used to stream our music or share your own music.
There is enough WiFi for staying in touch but not for downloading movies.
Outdoors, there are decks on both sides and both floors.
The gardens are truly beautiful and have subtle extensive LED lighting. Perfect for an evening stroll or just to admire from the deck.
In winter choose from lighting one or both of the wood fires or using the gas and/or electric heaters.
With a floating concrete floor, large eaves, opening verandah roof and opposing windows, the house is environmentally designed to remain cool during all but the most extreme of summer days without the need for air-conditioning. There are fans in the bedrooms and dining area if needed.
There are two King beds and one can be converted to two singles upon request.
The wall between the two downstairs bedrooms Bedrooms 2 & 3 can be opened up to create one large suite.
Bedroom 1 has a wall mounted TV.
Bedroom 4 has a DVD player.
Children are welcome on the property and there is a large garden and lawn to play in but no responsibility will be taken for children staying at or visiting the property. Please supervise carefully taking into consideration the unfenced dam and creek, stairs, verandas, balconies, the footbridge, the jetty, snakes, spiders; and cleaning chemicals.
If your child requires specialised items (cots or highchairs) please bring these with you.
If you would like to bring your dog along to Platypus Bend, please submit a written request to us stating the breed and temperament and any other relevant information. (Maximum of 2 dogs).
If evidence of a pet is discovered without approval, you will be charged for steam cleaning of carpets, furniture and/or mess left by the pet/s, plus an administration fee.
Once you have permission to have your dog with you, it is expected that a few simple rules of courtesy are followed:
All pets must be approved in writing prior to the stay
Any mess, including outdoors, must be wrapped and placed in outside bins
Pet bedding must be supplied by guest
Please restrict your pet to the hard floor areas and do not allow it onto furniture or into bedrooms
You agree to pay for any damage, or extra cleaning.
