Historic Ledgelawn Cottage has been offering her picturesque setting to travelers seeking the rustic beauty and alluring calm of coastal Maine since 1888 when E. S. Linekin opened her as The Ledgelawn Inn. Now a family cottage, she retains her charms from another time.
Begin your day with coffee on the deck as you take in sweeping, westward views across your lawn and private pool towards Linekin bay. Enjoy fishing from your private dock and have a picnic in the adjoining over-water gazebo (mooring just off the dock is available). The pool (unheated) provides cool refreshment on those lazy summer afternoons while the western orientation bathes the cottage in sunlight for most of the day. Sunsets at Ledgelawn are particularly spectacular and ending the day with your favorite beverage on the deck or in the gazebo is sure to remain a special memory for years to come.
The interior of the cottage harkens back to rustic comforts of times gone by when guests of Ledgelawn arrived, trunks in tow, by steamship. The main floor consists of a large living room, adjoining dining room with seating for 10 at the table, an eat-in kitchen with a wide range of appliances and cooking utensils, a powder room, a washer and dryer room and a spacious primary bedroom with ocean views and a private bath with shower. The first floor also affords a game room with a small table, sofa and television.
The second floor of the cottage offers five bedrooms; two king bedrooms (one with ocean view, one with garden view) and one queen bedroom with ocean view. In addition, there are two twin bedrooms on the second floor (each with two twin beds). Two bathrooms (one shower and one tub/shower) are both accessed off the second floor hall. On the second floor landing, a small library with a cozy chair is perfect for those times when you want to be alone with your favorite book.
The third floor provides a relaxing retreat with an "osprey's view" of the ocean and an additional full bathroom.
Ledgelawn Cottage is truly a family home. Perched on her hill overlooking the bay, she is located between the quiet village of East Boothbay and the historic summer community of Ocean Point.
