Malibu, California sits between the wonder of the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains. This fabulous home is enhanced by both, thanks to the skill of one of California’s preeminent architects Douglas Burdge.
Drawing from the ethereal light, the house was designed to enhance the sunrises from the easterly mountain views, and the sunsets into Zuma beach in the west. French doors, bifold doors and windows, connecting decks and the cathedral-style stairwell all contribute to an exceptional outdoor-indoor living space and breathtaking views.
Four bedrooms, with an additional fifth bedroom or office, plus separate guest house, offer spacious accommodation for a maximum of 12 people. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, apart from a large shared bathroom with classic dutch door between two of the downstairs bedrooms.
The large master suite is off the hallway on the main floor – after the brightly coloured and slightly eclectic powder room, and lemon-drop mudroom with stone flooring. A short corridor leads to the bedroom with a large custom-designed walk-in closet on the right. French doors bathe the room in natural light, and open onto a wide connecting deck to the office. A hand-carved stone mantel surrounds the fireplace which will warm- up chilly evenings or mornings. The master bathroom with 6’ bathtub, opens out onto its own private deck through floor to ceiling French doors. And the handmade four poster bed adds a sense of old-world glamour set against the Morris & Co wallpaper.
A further three bedrooms downstairs each have their own private patio which wraps around the house, and space to sit outside at bistro table and chairs to reflect peacefully or socialize. The large media room has enough capacity for a large group to have fun watching a movie or sports event, and a desk gives an additional workspace. Outside the media room is further patio seating, and a fire pit for fireside chats. The gravel path leads either to the fully equipped gym and putting green, with canyon views, and further onto the wellness area with sauna and plunge pool. Or, in the other direction, up to the outdoor seating and dining area with BBQ, soapstone counter and pass-through bifold windows to the main kitchen – perfect for entertaining. The view from here is stunning – either enjoying those in the pool and spa or further afield with the sun glistening on the ocean. The sports court – to take on friends at pickle ball or basketball – is at the far side of the property, adjacent to the orchard where you can enjoy lazy hazy afternoons in a hammock.
The Guest House provides a functional and fantastic space as either a large office or bedroom and offers the most panoramic views of the property. The expansive deck allows for working, dining or relaxing while admiring the sun setting or the moon rising. A smaller deck provides a work top for a laptop, morning breakfast, or sundown cocktail.
The red front door of the main house is an indicator of the colour you’ll find inside, and reflective of the unique character of the home. Handmade chandeliers, antiques from Europe, and some impactful art are the backdrop to stunning yet practical furniture, and a well-organized, sizeable kitchen is perfect for entertaining large numbers of friends.
State of the art sound systems, security systems and Monogram or GE appliances throughout; wine and drinks fridges in kitchen, media room and gym; Ferguson bath, kitchen and lighting fittings, European faucets and bath fixtures, and natural wide-plank, hand-finished flooring add to the absolute pleasure and enjoyment of this delightful property.
Beds: All the mattresses in the main house are Custom Comfort Mattresses. The bed linens are Frette.
Security: The home has an alarm system and the neighborhood has a 24-hour security service provided by IPS (International Protective Service).
Pool heating costs are $150/day. The jacuzzi can be heated at no additional charge.

As you enter the property through one of the two drive-in gates, you will find the pool and jacuzzi located in the front of the home. Equipped with passthrough windows from the kitchen to the Pool and BBQ area make this an amazing home to entertain or just hang out with the family.
The main house includes 4 bedrooms, dedicated office space with doors, and a laundry equipped with a wash station for your 4-legged friend.
The guest house sits above the 3-car garage and that gym with large doors that open to views of the ocean. The guest house is equipped with a full bathroom, kitchenette, outdoor deck, and a murphy-bed that doubles as a bookcase.
