Tastefully appointed! A quaint cottage in a forest setting on 6 acres bordering Harkness State Park. A peaceful & serene setting where you can hear nature by day and the lighthouse sound signal at night. The cottage is fully equipped & very comfortable for your stay. The Waterford beach is a short drive away...less than 2 miles through the forest...as are beautiful hikes along the coast. Centrally located near Historic Mystic, Niantic, Conn College, US Coast Guard Academy & the US Naval Base.
The Space:
RECENTLY RENOVATED! Including the kitchen, appliances, bathroom, furniture, paint, windows and more! Single story cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped for your use...including a fridge, oven, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher etc. We will leave you some of the basics to get your stay started, like coffee (extremely essential) and maybe fresh fruit and or pastries to get your first morning off to a good start, and even some wine. The family room is so welcoming, with a large sofa, entertainment center, and french doors looking out into the garden and forest. Speaking of forest, we have our own personal trail leading through the back acreage of our property to leads out to Harkness State Park. It is a beautiful and picturesque personal and private trail for you to enjoy.
Spoil yourself, it's ok....
Ski-in/Ski-out || Hike-in/Hike-out: Right out your back door is access to miles of trails, a beautiful and peaceful natural environment, where you will be unlikely to see another person. If you like to cross country ski in winter, hike/or mountain bike you are in luck. Right out the back door is a trail through our forest which then opens up into the meadows of north Harkness where there is no easy public access. Therefore you will have miles of trails through beautiful meadows and woodlands to yourself.

Living in an arboretum - the gardens and grounds are appointed with dozens of beautiful rare Japanese maples and other gorgeous varieties of plants. Get lost in your thoughts strolling through the beautiful grounds...enjoying the peace of the flora and fauna.

When it's time to relax, settle into the cozy family room. Indulge yourself kicking back on the very comfortable couch, while reading a book or streaming any of your favorite content on the new 58" UHD flat screen.
The surrounding area offers sailing, cycling, parks, and access to historic sites (Mystic Seaport, Harkness Park, Fort Trumbull, Fort Griswold, Ocean Beach, etc.). Minutes from Connecticut College, the Coast Guard Academy and Mitchell College; one hour from Yale and Brown University. Ferry service to Block Island, Fishers Island and Long Island is within a few miles, as is rail service. Just 10 minutes from I-95, it's ideally located between Hartford, Providence, New Haven, New York and Boston, with an international airport only one hour away.

Guest Access:
You will have access to the entire cottage, with the exception of the gardening annex for us to maintain the grounds, and is only accessible to the hosts from the outside. Otherwise, we will get you keys to the cottage and the rest is yours to enjoy.
The Neighborhood:
Quiet dead end road, the cottage is tucked away on a long driveway far from the street. We are optimally located near such wonderful places as Mystic, Stonington Borough, Niantic, and Essex. The United States Coast Guard Academy and Connecticut college are only 6 miles away. And Foxwoods and Mohegan sun casino resorts are also less than 20 miles away!
Getting Around:
We are only 4 miles away from the major transportation hub in New London. This hub offers a train station (Amtrak & local), a bus station, and the major port with ferries offering transportation to the picturesque Fishers Island, Block Island, eastern Long Island and the Hamptons, and harbor and lighthouse tours from the water.
Other Things to Note:
The cottage is stand alone, but co-located on our 6 acre property with our main home...so we are never far away if you need anything. While the property feels tucked away and remote, all the amenities you need like grocery stores are within a couple miles. We have emergency backup power for you in the case of any power loss situation.
With only one bed, and for many other reasons, we limit occupancy to a single person or couple. If extenuating circumstance arise where you would like to have a 3rd person stay here, let us know by sending us an inquiry before you book. We will do our best work with you to come up with a sleeping arrangement, provide extra linens and towels, supplies, parking, cleaning etc but it will need to be pre-approved first. There is a fee for an additional guest.
Only accessible from the outside, the cottage has a yard maintenance annex where we keep equipment to maintain the premises; this is not accessible to our guests, but wanted you to be aware of it.
