This light-filled apartment is set in a beautifully renovated historic schoolhouse. Big windows make you feel like you’re in the tree canopy in the summer, and views of mountain sunsets will help you unwind in the winter. The property is mostly surrounded by woods, so it’s private, but you’re still close to the main roads. Pownal is nestled in a lovely valley between Bennington and Williamstown MA, with an easy drive to restaurants, shops, Williams College, museums and outdoor adventures.

The apartment has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The kitchen is fully equipped and the living room is comfortably appointed. The bedroom has a comfy California king bed and a nice closet. There is an office space with a desk, but note that the office is open air to the rest of the apartment so there isn’t sound isolation. There is a washer/dryer in the laundry closet.

The building has three units, with our family members living in the two downstairs apartments. You have a private entrance and easy parking. You are welcome to wander the property, check out the little trails in the woods, and help yourself to raspberries and wild blackberries (and strawberries if you can beat the chipmunks to them). Please just stay out of the private fenced areas and be respectful of the residents.

The property has solar panels, heat pumps and an emergency battery backup. We’re transitioning as much as possible off of fossil fuels.
